{"id":1592,"date":"2013-11-28T10:43:27","date_gmt":"2013-11-28T10:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hibbittbarnes.uk\/blog\/?p=1592"},"modified":"2025-07-02T12:50:30","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T11:50:30","slug":"my-17th-century-ancestor-richard-fryers-story-is-published","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hibbittbarnes.uk\/blog\/my-17th-century-ancestor-richard-fryers-story-is-published","title":{"rendered":"My 17th Century Ancestor, Richard Fryer&#8217;s, Story Is Published"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My final article for the <em>Discover Your History<\/em> magazine is published in the December 2013 issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This time, I investigate the life of my 8 x great-grandfather, <strong><a title=\"Richard Fryer (abt. 1663-1710)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hibbitt.org.uk\/familytree\/fam1837.html\">Richard Fryer (abt. 1663-1710)<\/a><\/strong>, by examining his will and evaluating the inventory for clues. Richard was a yeoman from Overton in Arlingham, Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have visited Arlingham on a number of occasions and one gets the feeling that, in some ways, not much has changed from Richard&#8217;s day. The village is still rural, although I can imagine it was more of a hive of activity in the 17th century than it is now.
